NEW DAWN TO ICT SECTOR IN EAST AFRICA
Its a new dawn to ICT sector in Kenya and East Africa in general.East Africa currently consists of Five countries namely; Kenya,Uganda,Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi.On 1st July 2010,the East African Community took a giant leap as member states simultaneously launched the Common Market Protocol. The protocol, which was signed on November 20, last year, allows free movement of goods, services, capital and labour within the five countries.
The Treaty for Establishment of the East African Community was signed on 30 November 1999 and entered into force on 7 July 2000 following its ratification by the original three Partner States – Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. The Republic of Rwanda and the Republic of Burundi acceded to the EAC Treaty on 18 June 2007 and became full Members of the Community with effect from 1 July 2007.
Setting off the common market, President Kibaki ordered Ministry for imigration to waive the work permit fees for all East Africans coming to search for greener pastures in Kenya.For more information click here>>
ICT SHARE IN THE 2010/2011BUDJET
ICT has a big share in this budjes, although the it is distributed through different channels the direct share has been announced by the Minister, allocation of 1.3 Billion to improve the ICT training in all constituencies. Each constituency will get 300 computers which will be sources from the localassembly firms. So far Kenya has several assembly companies and projects which have already demonstrated their abillity to provide quality machines and software solutions. They will be the first lot to benefit directly from the allocation.This also has indused hope to Computer Engineering students which have graduated from different Colleges Accredited by the Computer Society of Kenya and Universities Countrywide..
The Minister has mentioned ICT allthrough his speech including introduction of several Centrilized Database, online service provisions,tracking and surveillance systems,access to credit and more employment opportunities. More Information as it comes...Keep checking.

29 JUNE 2010-KENYA PRIVATE SECTOR ALLIANCE BRIEFING
On Friday 29th June 2010 the CSK Chairman and the Corporate Affairs Manager Madam Doris Ofisi, attended a briefing organized by the KenyaPrivate Sector Alliance at the Serena Hotel. The purpose of the meeting was for the public sector to be appraised by the Minister of Information and Communications, Hon. Porgisio, and the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Bitange Ndemo, on the status of activity at the Ministry.
24 JUNE 2010- ICT PRODUCTIVITY CONSULTATIVE FORUM Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) held a consultative forum at the KICC on Productivity and Competitiveness of the ICT Cluster in nairobi. the first inducted into the Kenya ICT Hall of Fame that is to be
