The Kenya budget for 2010/2011 has been released by the Minister for Finace. Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta.The expenditure is extimated at Ksh. 997.00. According to the Minister,ICT will be the backbone of achieving the set goals begining with the introduction of several online services at Kenya Revenue Authority. A member body of Computer Society of Kenya responsible for the Countrywide Revenue Collection. Among the services is improvement of already implemented online Tax Returns System. The Authoritative Body will also introduce Import Tracking System to cut of counterfeits entering the country.
CSK Pledges to Open ICT Business Centre in Nairobi
The Computer Society of Kenya will partner with other Stakeholders, including the Government to open an ICT Business Centre in Nairobi. The centre will complement existing Business centres in cities such as Washington DC, Kualar Lumpur, Tokyo, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Johannesburg and Abuja.The objective of the centre is to have a facility that provides a group of services such as office space, communications, secretarial services and match-making resources to visiting ICT business people and delegations. The centre will provide IT infrastructure superior to that of a multi-national organization without incurring the investment costs. The centre will have a dedicated receptionist via Call Centre setup, professional meeting rooms, secretariat support on hand and all on flexible time use (daily, weekly) basis for visiting business people and delegations. The centre will also have refence material for potential Kenya ICT partners (directory and database).
In short the business centre will provide:
-Meeting room
-High Speed Internet Access
-Computers, printers and scanners
-Photocopying, telephone and faxing facilities
-Business Matching asvice
-Industry information

DATO DAN'KHOO FROM MALAYSIA RE-ELECTED AS WITSA PRESIDENT

Dato' Dan Khoo has been re-elected Chairman of the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) beating his rival Dr. George A. Cassino. No vote numbers were released by the election officials in the eagerly awaited election, save than to announcing the winner. Mr Khoo from Malaysia will be chair for the next 2 years up to and including the General Assembly meeting in Montreal in 2012. See advert at the top right of this page.

Dr. Waudo Siganga, Ph.D - Our Current CSK National Chairman has handed over the Africa Vice-Chairmanship to Dr. Jimson Olufuye from Nigeria. However he remains a Director of WITSA. Dr. Siganga has served the chair for a period of two years and its during his time that we saw the ICT community in Africa comming together as never before. Here in Kenya he has represented WITSA in incorporating the stand of the organization in the National ICT policy Making and full representation of ICT issues in the new Constitution of Kenya which will be decided upon on 4th of August,this Year. May 23 - 27 2010: World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) has officially Kicked Off
Amsterdam WITSA Congress: The meetings of the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (www.witsa.org) have opened in Amsterdam. Sunday 23rg May saw holding of Trade Committee, Finance Commitee, membership Commitee, Nominating Commitee and Public Policy Committee. Some pictures are attached. The meetings will continue on Monday 24th May, culminating in elections for WITSA Chairman for the next 2 years.CSK is a member of WITSA
